Camden is a village in Preble County, Ohio. Originally called Dover in 1818, it was renamed Camden in 1835 to honor the Revolutionary War battle site in Camden, South Carolina.1
Literary significance
Sherwood Anderson was born in Camden, Ohio on September 13, 1876. He did not live there for long, however, as his father’s work painting signs and houses caused the family to move often.2
