Cannes is a city on the French Riviera.1 Long associated with the rich and famous, it was during the 1920s that ‘the season’ began to switch from winter to summer.2

In fiction

Part of Ernest Hemingway’s posthumous novel The Garden of Eden (1986) takes place in Cannes.3
