Oak Park, Illinois

Oak Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois. Settled in 1835 and incorporated in 1902, it is a western suburb of Chicago, situated some nine miles from the city center.1

Literary significance

Ernest Hemingway was born in Oak Park on July 21, 1899. He attended Oak Park and River Forest High School from 1913-1917. His boyhood home where he spent the first six years of his life is now a museum operated by The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park.2
